ABSTRACT

The purpose ot this study was to determine the public perception of the study area in the village named Kampung Tuarid Taud Keningau, Sabah on the practice of the use of medicinal plants in traditional medicine as a side in the treatment of the diseases. This study is important to know how far the research community knowledge about the species and medicinal plant that can be used for any type of illness and learn the uses of the medicinal plants. In meeting the goal of this study, there are three main objectives which are applied in the study. The objective of the first touch on the plant species used in tradisional medicine, second is on the use of the medicinal plant and next is to determine the cause or factor use of medicinal plant in traditional medicine. Several methodologies were emploted to achieve the objectives of the study, by using observation, questionnaire, interview technique and also through observation. Initial findings of the study area found that people are still using medicinal plants and traditional medical practice. Can be seen that the people in the study area are still believed the effectiveness of the medical plant in treating the disease and succesfully achieve three important elements of study that is medicinal plant species used, the use of medicinal plant and also cause or factor the use of medical plants.
